Last weekend I got the chance to do something a little out of my norm. I was hired by Lancer Catering to photograph the Beastly Ball, a fundraiser for the MN Zoo in Apple Valley. As a wedding & event photographer I’m used to events like this, however, I have never photographed one where my intent was to focus on the food and not the people. It was a fun change of pace for me and I was completely fascinated to see the behind the scenes of what it takes to pull off an event as large as this! The Lancer team was fabulous to work with and I enjoyed the opportunity to photograph a gala from a different perspective very much. Also had a little fan girl moment when I saw Sven Sundgaard, Alicia Lewis, and Melissa Colorado from the Kare 11 Sunrise show — but don’t worry, I didn’t approach them or act awkward! Enjoy some of the photos!
I’m happy to share these photos from a recent in-home family session I did! I tend to do most of my photo sessions outdoors so it’s fun to mix things up a little and do something outside of my norm. About 5 years ago Sonya & Jeremy bought their home and began the process of remodeling it. They have a very similar style to me so I loved seeing all of the updates they’ve done. Also, we did Sonya’s maternity photos a few years back when she was pregnant with Jackson through Blush Twin Cities so it’s fun to see the canvases above the bed in some of the photos! They ended up purchasing an album with 20 photos from their session and these were some of my favorites that were included.
We are planning another session in the future to get some large wall-art portraits of each of the kids for above the staircase, can’t wait!
A few weeks ago my friend Elishia asked me to come do some family photos at their home in Stillwater. Her brother-in-law and his family were in town from Japan for just a few short days. Since it is rare that the whole family is together I was happy that I could capture some photos of them while they were here!
